I purchased a TV lift mechanism and fasten it to the wall after I removed the couch on the passenger side and mounted a 40” flat panel LED TV to the lift.

Then I built the cabinet around the TV, framing out the cabinetry including a storage space. Topped it with a pre-fabricated countertop, cut an opening for the TV to come up through and later added a shelf for the DVD player and VCR.

Next I had to run wires from the AV control center through the slide section.

NOTE: First time I moved the slide it sliced through all the wires. Be VERY careful when securing wires in the slide.

I used adhesive backed cable track to hide the speaker wires for our Bose surround sound system.

To hide the wires on the lower portions of the cabinet (cable/satellite) I put a groove in a piece of cherry and glued it over the wires.

I took Bose speakers that were hanging over the driver and passenger seats and recessed them in the header over the new entertainment center. This front was held on with regular RV cabinet door clips. I lucked out on that!!

I then built a cherry top to cover the opening for the TV and a separate lid for a small storage area for our printer and laptop.

I then constructed doors for the front of the entertainment center.

I did not use solid cabinet doors. Instead I made inserts out of smoked plexiglass so that we can operate the VCR and DVD without having to open the doors.

My wife is happy that the TV does not have to always be up and blocking the window during the day. I like pushing a button and watching my TV move up and down out of the cabinet. Small things, ya know?

  1. Should have read further and wouldn’t have needed to ask where’s the TV. I was thinking about the exact same project with the lift. Where did you get the lift? What kind is it? Also, we are from N/W PA. Where are you from? Thanks for your response to my remodel thread. Great pictures also.

Chat me up peeps! We love to hear from you.
