The holidays are a wonderful time to connect with friends and family. (click here for pics)<\/strong><\/a> For some that means spending hours in the kitchen preparing meals for their families and\u00a0guests. For others, like John and I, it gives us a legitimate reason to mooch food off of those we love. (*wink*)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

It isn’t that I can’t cook, it is more like I don’t like to cook. I think it is really hard.\u00a0My A.D.D. keeps John busy putting out kitchen fires because I forget about pots on the stove, and my dyslexia leads to improper amounts of ingredients being added to recipes. Thankfully we have very understanding friends and family.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Our first stop in our holiday rounds was Bob and Deann’s house. Deann is John’s sister and most holiday meals on John’s side of the family are hosted at her home. (She is a wonderful cook by the way.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peg (John’s mom) added to the meal her wonderful Mac ‘n’ Cheese dish and for desert a pumpkin roll. Her pumpkin rolls are the best I have EVER had and I look forward to them every year.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0There were two new guest this year:\u00a0Josh, Tiff’s fiance and Molly their new puppy (springer spaniel, beagle mix). Jake wasn’t so sure about Molly at first, but he eventually warmed up to her.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

We spent a couple of hours catching up with our family and watching the Cool Tools marathon before heading out to our next stop,\u00a0our friend Paul Hardy.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bonnie, Paul, John, Sally, Barb<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Paul is another excellent cook (and wine maker), and his girlfriend Bonnie knows her way around a kitchen as well.They along with Paul’s sister Barb and a neighbor of Paul’s, Sally, were just finishing up their Thanksgiving meal when we arrived.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Still stuffed from our previous meal John and I opted for a glass of wine instead of a plate full of food. But then, Paul brought out a homemade pumpkin pie.<\/p>\n

Paul didn’t buy pumpkin pie filling, he got raw pumpkins cooked them down and pureed to make his own filling. I was still too stuffed to eat but John couldn’t help himself and had a piece.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Around\u00a04:15pm we\u00a0headed home to feed the animals and\u00a0then up to my parent’s house for more holiday celebration.<\/p>\n

On the drive home\u00a0John said that he was going to need\u00a0some antacids, his stomach\u00a0was feeling a little unhappy with him. I warned him not to have that pumpkin pie, but he just doesn’t have any self control when it comes to good food.<\/p>\n

My parents were busy finishing up cooking\u00a0when we got there so we had time to hang out a while and hope that all the food we ate would hurry up and digest.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately Zane had to work and couldn’t be with but Britta and Riesa were able to come over. Riesa was in a particularly good mood and was happy just hanging with her Me-Me until dinner was served.<\/p>\n

I wasn’t sure how I was going to eat any more food, but I figured if John, Julia and Brad could do it so could I. Mostly I was looking forward to all the deserts.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

We wanted to be home by 8pm so that we could watch Punkin’ Chunkin’ on the Discovery channel. I so wanted to go to a punkin chunkin festival this year but I couldn’t find one close enough to home. After watching the show, we so want to go to one in person. What a hoot!!<\/p>\n

John said that he was glad to be home. He wasn’t feeling very well and his stomach was threatening him with a promise of a purge if he didn’t stop eating and hold still. Poor baby.<\/p>\n

It is now about 10pm and John still isn’t sleeping.\u00a0 11pm rolls around and he is still awake. This is highly unusual for him, as he almost always falls asleep on the couch around 8:30 – 9pm or so. Midnight and we are still awake on the couch. I finally can’t stay awake and fall asleep. He wakes me around 2:30am and says he feels well enough to lay down.<\/p>\n
