We are a day ahead of schedule and not booked into our next campground until tomorrow so we are overnighting in Paynes Prairie Preserve. Through one of apps we use to find campgrounds I found Paynes Prairie and one of the posts written by another RV\u2019er stated that even if the park is full they will let you stay in their overflow parking for the night. So we have decided to try it.<\/p>\n

Yep, they are letting us stay in the overflow parking for $10. Not free, but close. And not being right in the campground area we also do not have to deal with traffic, barking dogs, music playing, or crying children. Just peace and quite and aloneness.<\/p>\n

It would be interesting to know if other state parks allow overnight parking in their overflow areas. Something to check out. Even if there is a small fee, the solitude and a good night\u2019s sleep beats Wal-Mart any day.<\/p>\n

Besides, is staying at Wal-Mart all that cheap? I mean, every time we stay at a Wal-Mart we end up going in, shopping around and spending $100, at least. Do we need the stuff? Maybe. But I\u2019ll take the woods as my preferred sleeping spot.<\/p>\n
