As I said in the beginning, this January at Quartzsite has been much cooler and wetter. We always welcome a bit of rain to help keep the dust down but this year we had enough rain to fill the dry wash next to our camping area.<\/p>\n

Something else that is different are the sunsets. Normally, the sunsets turn the ENTIRE sky bright reds, oranges, yellows and purples but not this year. They start out promising.<\/p>\n

Get to the point where you think the sky is really going to light up.<\/p>\n

And then it fades and night falls. What is up with that?<\/p>\n

So mostly we just have to enjoy the fire in our camp for brilliant color and warmth. Geez the desert gets cold in winter.<\/p>\n

We are well-prepared though with lots of firewood. Wait! Sue what are you doing chopping firewood? Its your birthday!<\/p>\n

She wants, as usual, to go to Silly Al\u2019s to celebrate. It is one of many trips we will make there this year. They have the BEST pizza!<\/p>\n

We did the rock show again, of course, and Andy and Candy went RV shopping. None of us really bought anything. The dinosaur bones are pretty cool.<\/p>\n

Candy and I were a popular stop for the hummingbirds this year. They buzz and swoop and fight over our heads, between us and around us. It can be a bit unnerving. They have very sharp beaks!<\/p>\n

After Andy and Candy left and a few days before the rest of us leave we decide to go out shooting. John may have the opportunity to go on a hog hunt when we get to Atlanta so he wants to make sure his AR is sighted in with the new scope he put on. We all took turns shooting John\u2019s toys, his.22s the AR and some handguns.<\/p>\n

Everyone but Annie and Jackson, Phil and Sue\u2019s dogs seem to be having fun.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve had a busy time this year at Quartzsite. It seems like there was always something going on, someone visiting or a somewhere to go. But alas, camp is empty, its time for us to go too.<\/p>\n
