We are spending our normal month or so in sunny, warm southern Arizona. Well, it is supposed to be sunny and warm. This year it has been cooler and a bit more overcast than usual but nothing that’s dampening our fun.<\/p>\n

We are having a very busy year here at Quartzsite between the RV show and the Rock and Gem Show. Our first year at The Q, there were three other couples that joined us, the following years just one couple, Phil and Sue. Last year two couples, Phil and Sue, and Andy and Candy. This year four couples; our little group is growing!<\/p>\n

New this year are Ty and Cindy. We met them a couple of years ago at a campground in Cottonwood, AZ and you\u2019ll never guess where they\u2019re from? Bloomsburg, PA of all places! They moved to AZ about the time we hit the road in our RV. This is their first time to The Q and they both seemed to enjoy it. (They are the two in the back, left side)<\/p>\n

The other newbies this year are Steve and Loralynn, from Missouri. We met them in Southaven, MS in the waiting room of Southaven RV while each of us was waiting while our rigs were getting worked on. We hit it off, went out to dinner and planned to meet up in Quartzsite the following year and here we all are! Going around the table left to right, Wendy, John, Loralynn, Phil, Sue, Steve, Andy and Candy. We are in everyone\u2019s favorite establishment, Beer Bellies and affectionately referred to as \u201cAdult Day Care.\u201d<\/p>\n

Steve and Loralynn have never been Jeepin\u2019 or rockhounding. We decided to introduce them to both at once. We loaded them up in Phil and Sue\u2019s Jeep as they have a backseat and we do not, and headed out into the mountains to see what we would find. Knowing John, it will be nothing but trouble. *wink<\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t seem to matter how I take the pictures, the hill climbs never look, in the pictures, the way they do when standing there watching someone traverse an incline or decline. This road is steep, rutty, and with loose rock. Fun!<\/p>\n

Rockhounding isn\u2019t always about finding cool rocks. Sometimes it is just about the journey and taking a walk on the wild side of civilization.<\/p>\n

We didn\u2019t find too many cool rocks, some here and there, but we all had fun just spending time together.<\/p>\n
