My South Carolina sister-in-law Darlene and I joined a bus trip put together by someone she works with for a Christmas trip to the Big Apple.<\/p>\n

While wandering around Time Square look who we bumped into? They wanted $5 a piece for letting us take their picture. I gave them a $1 each claiming I didn\u2019t mind paying for the picture but I wasn\u2019t buying them their lunch too! Minions can get testy.<\/p>\n

We headed for Rockefeller Center for some site seeing. Have you ever wondered how they get some of this artwork in place?<\/p>\n

We were surprised to see police surrounding the Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Center. Some of the officers were heavily armed with assault type weapons.<\/p>\n

The Toy Soldiers surrounding the ice skating rink have them some good backup in case the ice skaters get out of hand.<\/p>\n

Hmm. Seems as though society as a whole should be listening to this guy.<\/p>\n

Darlene has been to New York city before but not to St. Patrick\u2019s Cathedral so it was a must see this trip.<\/p>\n

The church, as well as every sidewalk, was over crowded with people, making maneuvering and picture taking very difficult, but we managed to get a few.<\/p>\n

The nativity scene was huge and the pine boughs smelled heavenly.<\/p>\n

After a quiet and serene stroll through the Cathedral we headed for 5th Avenue. Saks has some spectacular decorations. With all of the crowds on the streets, walking was slow going so we didn\u2019t get to see very many store front displays like I had hoped.<\/p>\n

After some supper and hot chocolate we were ready to head back to Rockefeller Center to watch the ice skaters and look at the lights. Those aren\u2019t only bushes bordering the skating rink. It is a solid wall of spectators. Yea, I\u2019ve been to New York City many times but I have never seen so many people!<\/p>\n

The tree was gorgeous and well worth the sea of humanity we had to struggle through to get to see it all lit up.<\/p>\n

Our time here is over. It is a nice place to visit but I would not want to live here.<\/p>\n
