As we work our way across the southern states of the country on our way to Alabama, we spent some time traveling on historic Route 66. Though major interstates have led to the economic decline of many cities along the 66 corridor, the traffic is light and pleasant traveling for tourist and travelers with lazy schedules.<\/p>\n

In Amarillo, Texas on Route 66 is the Cadillac Ranch. You may have seen pictures or heard about it, but visiting it is something else. It is clearly visible from the roadway.<\/p>\n

Fortunately for us the pull-offs by the attraction are large and easily accommodated our rig while we checked out the artwork.<\/p>\n

For the most part, the public is respectful of the site.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The only rebellious behavior we found was on the cattle gate to the site and the trash cans just outside of the gated area.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There was a group of people there with boxes of spray paint cans, and it looked as though they were painting the cars solid rainbow colors.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There is a rebel in every group. this guy looks like he is painting stripes.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

If you come here and paint a masterpiece, be sure to take a picture, because in a few hours, someone else\u2019s masterpiece may have covered yours.<\/p>\n

For more information about the Cadillac Ranch check out one of my favorite travel sites for weird, off-the-wall type tourist attractions \/ tourist traps. (depends on your point of view) Roadside America<\/span><\/u><\/a> The site not only offers attractions, but trip planning as well. The site is free but with all of the ads and distraction on the site it can be challenging to navigate. On the upside, the attractions have been verified\/visited by Roadside America staff.<\/p>\n
