Today, Saturday, is the last trail day for the Jeep Safari groups, meaning ALL the trails are crowded and hard to get on if you aren\u2019t part of the paid group. Rather than fight it, we watched it instead.<\/p>\n

Our first stop was at the BFE area. They are not associated with the Jeep Safari group but they have some extreme obstacle courses for the rock junkies.<\/p>\n

A good spotter in a place like this is essential.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Sometimes all you can see is sky out the windshield, rocks out your door, and not all of your tires.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Good tire placement is the difference between making it or tipping it. This guy did great.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Most of the vehicles were either heavily modified Jeeps or rock crawlers.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Fun. We spent a couple of hours watching the drivers maneuvering their rigs through the course. Pretty amazing what some of these machines can do.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Potato Salad Hill is a popular obstacle for spectators on the Hell\u2019s Revenge trail for a few reasons. It is pretty close to town, there is lots of spectator viewing area, and there is the potential for metal bending. With that being said, we were not surprised at the abundant law enforcement officers over the entire area.<\/p>\n

Whenever there is a concentration of people, alcohol and a degree of foolishness, you are just asking for trouble, whether they are on foot, bicycle or otherwise.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Regardless of all that, we felt right at home\u2026not sure what that says about us, but hey.<\/p>\n

Here at Potato Salad Hill, the vehicles do not need to be as heavily modified as those at the BFE area, but stock vehicles just aren\u2019t enough either. We saw all kinds of vehicles, pickups, rock crawlers, Jeeps, and even the token dirt bike.<\/p>\n

\u2026and old guy. Those old guys were not as exciting to watch, no spinning tires or smoke, but they had amazing SKILL.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Jeeps, Jeeps and more Jeeps.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Quite a few of the drivers choose the easiest path of the hill. For those that chose the harder paths….<\/p>\n

We saw 3 brandy new, modified 4-door Rubicons come through. The crowd went nuts, cat calling about who would bring a $60,000 new vehicle on this. Not one of them had any problems at all.<\/p>\n
