Las Vegas, Nevada was not on our list of places to visit\u2026well at least not very high on the list. We aren\u2019t gamblers, and truth be told, we like to avoid large populaces. However, John\u2019s new venture is going to have us in the heart of large metropolises, so it is best to just embrace it.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Since he works six 10-hour days and pretty much just comes home and crashes, site seeing is done on his only day off, Sunday. So we have to pack a lot in.<\/p>\n

Our first trip out was to the famous Freemont Street and Container Park.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Las Vegas sure does like its neon signage. Even though it was daytime you could get a feel for what it would be like all lit up. There was a \u201cneon museum \/ graveyard\u201d of retired signs, but we did not take the tour.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The painted artwork was impressive too.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There were a couple of notable buildings. One was the Heart Attack Grill, where person\u2019s over 350 pounds eat free and the establishment is honest about its impact on your health.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Container Park is a complex constructed from decommissioned containers like you see on cargo ships. Most of the shops were dedicated to independent crafters, recycle\/repurpose shops and health remedies. There was plenty of artwork all around as well.<\/p>\n

This is a heart of locks and each lock had a message attached.<\/p>\n

This one is obvious, praying mantis.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In the center of Container Park was a large playhouse also made out of repurposed containers.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It was quaint and serene. A nice break from the busyness.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Our last stop of the day was the TV show Pawn Stars<\/strong><\/em>, pawn shop. I am generally not a fan of going in Pawn Shops. They are creepy and I always feel like I need a shower after leaving.<\/p>\n

If you have seen the show, then you know this isn\u2019t the typical pawn shop, so I agreed to go in and look around.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

On TV it appears or has the feeling of being bigger. Everything is very tastefully displayed and clean. Though the stars of the show were not there, we did recognize some of the other staff and security personnel. John got himself a T-shirt too.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

If we ever come back there are two things I want to do\u2026.see a show, and be at the Pawn Shop when the stars are there, for John of course.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
