My first try back in 2013, after we had been on the road a couple of months, was painful….VERY painful. Having just come from living in a house with a deep freeze I followed the same steps to defrost the RV freezer. bleeeeh.

Thankfully I have found a better way. So for all of you who don’t know the trick here it is!

Measure the back wall of your freezer.

Purchase placemats to fit. I bought a thin stiff kind.

Trim to fit. We removed our ice maker for more room so I had to cut out around the left over hardware

For convenience I bought a tiny whiskbroom and dust pan.

Unfortunately you will have to defrost the freezer the old fashioned way the first time:

empty everything (including the fridge) into a cooler

turn the unit off

sop up the water after the ice melts

turn the unit back on and let it come to temperature.
