Saturday (yesterday) was a beautiful day, cool but warm sunshine, it was in the low 60\u2019s. So we decided a trip to art-filled Asheville. As we toured the city we came across street musicians on almost every corner, but no \u201cAugust Rush\u201d kid\u2026bummer.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We found a \u201cstatue\u201d person who was fun to watch. I could NEVER hold that still, EVER! When you threw some money in her urn, she would come to life and play her drum.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There is plenty of street art around town. Lots of of art everywhere actually.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We spent the whole afternoon perusing the shops. I am not normally a good window shopper, in fact I hate it, but I can\u2019t wait to go back to Asheville and do some more!<\/p>\n

For supper we headed for the Mellow Mushroom for some beer and pizza. They had 74 CRAFT BEERs on tap, and of course, keeping with the artful downtown, lots of artwork on the walls.<\/p>\n

After that we moseyed on down to the 5 Walnut Wine Bar for a little live music before heading home. We found Sean Gaskell, playing his Kora<\/a>, an African string instrument. It was a very relaxing end to a busy day.<\/p>\n

Today, Sunday, was an even nicer day. John wanted to do some rockhounding and I wanted to do some hiking\/sightseeing of an area I had been researching for the website.<\/p>\n

So we headed to the Whitewater Falls just outside of Sapphire. Though access to the waterfall wasn\u2019t much of a hike through the woods, it was an energetic walk, even if it was on a wooden deck.<\/p>\n

The falls at the viewing point, were huge! We opted not to continue to the bottom since all of the signs indicated that there would not be any other photo opportunities of the falls.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We headed to a rockhounding spot up the road where we both got muddy and wet. A few little rocks and lots of nice mica made the cut and headed home with us.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow it is back to the grind\u2026.but it is going to be in the 50\u2019s and 60\u2019s all week. Nice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
