So what have we been doing over the last 2 weeks? I have been working on Rutledge Lake\u2019s two websites and John has been digging holes and working on the electrical \u201cstuff\u201d here at the park.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I have hung my usual array of bird feeders and wow! I have never seen so many golden finches. There must be a flock of at least 20 that visits daily. In addition I have the other typical feeder birds visiting; chickadee, tit-mouse, blue jays, mourning doves, nut hatches and cardinals.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Birds I typically did not see in my secret garden back home in PA have been Carolina Wrens, which have a nice little song. Needless to say I\u2019ve got a great view while working at my computer.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Eastern Blue Bird is thriving in this area. I have about 6 pairs that come to feast on suet and for seeds at the platform feeder.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The most surprising visitor however has to be one of my two woodpeckers. The Hairy Woodpecker, similar to PA\u2019s very common Downy Woodpecker showed up first. The surprise bird\u2026.the Pileated Woodpecker. For those of you who remember that would be the Woody Woodpecker variety. He is so fun to watch!<\/p>\n

With all of these birds around I have been thinking about the owl family that we watched grow up last summer. So I broke out my patterns and found one for an owl pillow. I even made 5 owls, one for each grand child. It will make a nice summer time pillow for on our couch, maybe.<\/p>\n
