As we made our way home from Mammoth to Madison the sky began clearing and even though the temperature was still dropping we decided we could visit one more feature.<\/p>\n

Mudpots vary with the season. In spring they are thin and watery from abundant rain and snow. By late summer they are thick and gooey and by winter they are fumaroles or steam vents.<\/p>\n

Some of these were pretty muddy and not too thick, probably because of all the rain we had overnight.<\/p>\n

With the late day sun and clearing sky photographers were out in force at this location just as at Mammoth. There were several geysers constantly erupting and spouting steam that made for some interesting light reflections.<\/p>\n

John has been into taking pictures of root balls here at Yellowstone and found this one particularly interesting with the light reflection.<\/p>\n

This ends our fun at Yellowstone. We definitely want to come back someday and hopefully spend some time hiking into the back county looking for animals and maybe spending more time taking pictures.<\/p>\n
