Talk about saving the best for last! These hot springs are not called Mammoth because they found mammoth bones here but because the spring-created features are HUGE!!! And absolutely gorgeous!!!<\/p>\n

As we rolled into Mammoth Hot Springs we were greeted by a small herd of Elk. I also noticed that many of the visitors were wearing winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves. Brrrr.<\/p>\n

Limestone is the underlying rock in this area in stead of rhyolite and the unique formations show this. Because of this softer stone Mammoth Hot Springs changes constantly and can be quite different even day to day.<\/p>\n

With the clouds rolling in heavier, and the lateness in the day, the light was perfect for some very creative photography and John didn\u2019t disappoint.<\/p>\n
