The clear blue water combined with the yellow sulfur-coated walls the water appeared to be a beautiful clear green color.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_3609.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px 5px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_3609_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C436&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"436\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_3612.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px 5px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_3612_thumb.jpg?resize=578%2C434&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"578\" height=\"434\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Steamboat wasn\u2019t erupting when we were there but the noise from the steam venting was very loud, like a steam engine.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_3613.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px 5px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_3613_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C436&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"436\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cistern Spring and Steamboat Geyser are linked underground. When Steamboat is erupting, Cistern empties. Since Steamboat had erupted recently, there wasn\u2019t a lot of water in the pool but you can see where the water constantly overflows when full.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_3621.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px 5px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_3621_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C436&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"436\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The trees around the Cistern were killed by the silica-rich water flowing from the spring.&nbsp; Locals call them \u201csock trees\u201d. Nature is cool.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC_0751.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px 5px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"DSC_0751\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC_0751_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C436&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"DSC_0751\" width=\"580\" height=\"436\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Talk about cool, the Echinus Geyser was gorgeous. Blues, reds, greens and yellows all together. It is the largest acidic geyser known; its waters are pH 3-4, acidic as vinegar.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_3691.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px 5px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_3691_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C436&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"436\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the other side of the boardwalk was another little Echinus like puddle that was bubbling away. It sounded like a quarter inch of water boiling in a pot.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC_0792.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px 5px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"DSC_0792\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC_0792_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C436&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"DSC_0792\" width=\"580\" height=\"436\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As we made our way out of the geyser basin we came to two features that contrasted the Echinus Geyser\u2019s bright oranges, the Blue Mud Steam Vent and Mystic Spring.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_3657.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px 5px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_3657_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C436&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"436\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_3676.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px 5px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_3676_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C436&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"436\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I think my lips are as blue as that pool.
