So, what do we do all day as campground hosts? In the beginning there was a lot of \u201cyard work\u201d getting the campground ready for campers. (see this post from May<\/a>) With that done and only touch-ups needed every now and again, we spend our time tidying up the bathrooms\u2026(John wields a mean broom)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Cleaning campsites after a camper vacates, which takes only a minute or two\u2026.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The group \/ pavilion site we have take us a while usually. These sites can hold up to 200 people and can get a bit messy.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We spend a lot of time talking with the campers and just general socializing.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Periodically I get to put my \u201cteaching hat\u201d on and hold an interpretive class with anyone interested. The kids and I are talking about spider webs and in the morning sun we found some really BIG ONES!!!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We also like to checkout other people\u2019s rigs and setups. Here are the three we found most interesting this summer.<\/p>\n

A vintage Airfloat, Airstream\u2019s competitor \u201cback in the day\u201d. The owners let us take a look inside. They completely restored it and even take it to vintage RV shows.<\/p>\n

This one, well we aren\u2019t sure. We never got to talk to the owners.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

You may have heard of a type of recreational vehicle called a Toy Hauler. Basically it is a house with an attached garage. The back of the rig folds down to make a ramp and you drive your vehicle out. We we had a \u201chorse hauler\u201d complete with a slide out in the living area and hay in the back part. No horses though.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

John usually gets in at least one nap a day.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

He has been working steadily on his rock collection. A jewelry store in Arizona is interested in his wine bottle stoppers so he made up a bunch and got a few in the mail. Hopefully they will sell well.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

He\u2019s been tumbling, grinding and polishing rocks all summer.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

He even took a wire wrapping class at a local jewelry store. Here is what he has done so far.<\/p>\n
