I know\u2026.seems like d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu but \u201ctreasure hunting\u201d is fun and it gets us out exercising.<\/p>\n

Sunday we headed for a spot outside of Payson AZ to a place called Agate Mountain. Apparently the agate is colorful and plentiful. Here is the view from the top.<\/p>\n

The agate is just \u201cfloating\u201d on top of the ground. (I know hard to tell from this pic)<\/p>\n

No need for digging or smashing rocks to get to it, though I did do a little smashing. It is just fun. John found a huge rock with all kinds of agate. I circled a couple of examples. They have tight thin bands of color most often in a \u201cbulls eye\u201d pattern.<\/p>\n

Like I said before though, it isn\u2019t only about the rocks.<\/p>\n

It is about the journey\u2026speaking of the journey. The road we were on was supposed to just end at the collection site. What does a road that just ends look like to a Jeep Rubicon owner?<\/p>\n

Well it better have a big sign saying \u201cThis is the end of the road, really. Even for you Rubicon dude.\u201d<\/p>\n

Turns out there was not a sign like this and we went a little too far. John is pretty sure, without the ability to lock all of our wheels and 4 wheel low\u2026.we might still be up on Agate Mountain.<\/p>\n

But the beautiful scenery that Arizona has to offer might not have made it seem so bad.<\/p>\n

But alas it was time to go home. Now if I could just improve my gate open\/close technique John wouldn\u2019t make so much fun of me. Here I am begging for help and what is he doing? Snickering and taking my picture.<\/p>\n
