We arrived 8 days ago along with 3 other couples, John and Sharon, Phil and Sue and our new friends Mike and Sherry, and we are truly enjoying ourselves. The guys spend a lot of time working on the rigs and the girls read, paint, clean or just relax. Every night we sit around a campfire and chat and drink. (I know, it\u2019s a hard life but somebody has to do it.)  Here we are in our little \u201ccircle\u201d.<\/p>\n

There are many groups spread out across the desert but even with all of the people and rigs it doesn\u2019t feel crowded.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There are lots of \u201cbuggies\u201d running around and they look like a lot of dusty fun.<\/p>\n

We saw several para planes in our first days, but not many since.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This morning we were greeted with a beautiful sunrise and a couple of hot air balloons.<\/p>\n

Yesterday we paid tribute to an RV friend who passed last year. Though John and I did not know him very well, those that did loved him very much.<\/p>\n

There were some tears, but mostly a lot of laughing, as those gathered shared their stories and favorite memories of Ray, which is what I think he would have wanted.<\/p>\n

We spread some of his ashes on a hilltop outside of town<\/p>\n

John, me, and our friends Sue and Phil took a short 6 mile hike out into the desert to do some exploring. The air is cool but the sun is hot and there isn\u2019t a lot of shade.<\/p>\n

We did find a couple of interesting cacti. The saguaro (they are TOO COOL) \u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026and a somewhat fuzzy cactus, called a \u201cjumping cholla\u201d or \u201cdesert velcro\u201d. The spines are barbed and stick to almost anything, I know from personal experience.<\/p>\n

Phil and Sue are in the market for a new rig and have been looking all week at different RV\u2019s. Maybe today we can help them close a deal. I am told we also need to go to the \u201cbook store\u201d to visit the naked shop keeper. This could be fun.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
