Picture it, a partly cloudy day, 65 degrees, no breeze to speak of, and the birds are singing. Just lovely! I am happily lounging around reading my book when John announces that he is going to get his big camera and go explore a bit. Would I like to come along? Sure I said.<\/p>\n

He still had his loafers on and so did I.<\/p>\n

Noticing this I asked maybe we should change our shoes. Nah, John says, we aren\u2019t going far just a little stroll. I reminded him of his aptitude for getting us in trouble, but he assured me we would be fine.<\/p>\n

Will I never learn?<\/p>\n

After a short distance we came to the nature trail in the park. It is about 3 miles long and what I would consider a super easy hike.<\/p>\n

I express my concerns about \u201cgoing off road\u201d in our current footware. He again assures me we will be fine.<\/p>\n

Will I never learn?<\/p>\n

Yes I was whining. I\u2019ll admit it. I mention that I thought we were just going for a little stroll. John says \u201cNo, I said exploring\u201d.<\/p>\n

After a bit we come to a mud hole and I stopped and told him, you are going to have to find a way around that because I\u2019m not getting my feet wet and muddy.<\/p>\n

Oh he found me a way around alright, but it required that I navigate around some wicked thorns. I felt like I was back in Africa!<\/p>\n

We continued to walk some more but my feet were starting to hurt from the effort. I told John, ok no I whined, that I wanted to go back to camp. He reluctantly agreed and we hiked back to camp.<\/p>\n

I told him from now on if he was inviting me to stroll or explore I was putting on my hiking shoes.<\/p>\n

We will see if I have learned the next time he wants to go adventuring.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
