Reservations had been made and our campsite paid for well in advance. The guard at the gate however said \u201cNope, ya ain\u2019t comin\u2019 in. Blame our congressmen and senators, darn government shut down has shut our gates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We kinda expected that, but boy oh boy what a nice park it seemed to be, to bad. So we started calling around to State parks, but they couldn\u2019t accept bookings until Sunday. Hmm. Fine. Well then we will try some private campgrounds. Found one about 1\/2 hour on up the road in Rogers, Arkansas. They were quite willing to take our money and give us a place to park for a few days.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/IMG_1938.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px 5px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"x-default\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/IMG_1938_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C436&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"x-default\" width=\"580\" height=\"436\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was a nice area also next to Beaver Lake, which is enormous. But like most private campgrounds, we could just about reach out our window and touch the RV next to us, but hey that is part of the lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/IMG_1925.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px 5px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"x-default\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/IMG_1925_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C436&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"x-default\" width=\"580\" height=\"436\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The lake boasts trophy sized Stripers and more. A fisherman\u2019s paradise, my parents would have loved this lake area.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday it rained all day and the temperatures went from 85, hot and humid, to mid 40\u2019s, windy and cold. It made it a good day to run some errands.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/IMG_1929.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px 5px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"x-default\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/IMG_1929_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C436&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"x-default\" width=\"580\" height=\"436\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sunday was much nicer so we took a short 4.3 mile hike on a trail located in the Hobbs State park just around the corner from us.
