Our backyard for our short stay was in the Meeman-Shelby State Park about a 20 minute ride from downtown. The park is beautiful if you love dense, towering hardwood tree forests and lots of peace and quiet. The park borders the Mississippi River and we took a drive down to the boat dock to check it out.<\/p>\n

We saw a barge making its way up the river<\/p>\n

and a butterfly soaking up the sun. (Thinking of you Deb B.)<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t be in Memphis and not visit Graceland.<\/p>\n

Yeah it was touristy and at times a bit \u201chokey\u201d but the tour of the mansion was personal and intimate. It was an audio-guided tour so you could spend as much time as you wished in any area that was of interest. Everyone around us was very respectful and reverent. It was nice.<\/p>\n

There were options to view other exhibits like his cars and his private plane but we stuck to the mansion tour. We aren\u2019t very good tourists and tire quickly of exhibits.<\/p>\n
