On Tuesday March 12th we setup in our new backyard at Caballo Lake State Park. Wednesday, John worked on the RV all day.<\/p>\n

Thursday, we just wanted to take a little drive and explore our new neighborhood. So, armed with the GPS and our map off we went. Again the \u201cmountains\u201d were calling to John.<\/p>\n

We hopped on Route 187 and headed north towards Truth or Consequences. We are definitely spending a day in that little town. Think Hot Springs, soaking, relaxing\u2026awe.<\/p>\n

Anyhow\u2026we continued on past the Elephant Butte Lake. Lovely don\u2019t you think?<\/p>\n

Now John wants to explore some BLM land. We head up what is called a county route, dirt gravel and rock road. A little bumpy but no biggy. At the top of the mountain we find a great view.<\/p>\n

Oooo, look at the pretty red hills, I want to go there!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Here is where things start to get interesting. Though we have maps and a GPS, roads and such are not documented as well as one would like in BLM land. Some how we went from white and black road lines on the map to dotted lines. The GPS at this point doesn\u2019t think we are on a road at all.<\/p>\n

Hmm.<\/p>\n

The road got steeper.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The road got rougher.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Then it was like winding through places that trees and other plants couldn\u2019t grow so lets call that the road.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

To finally something resembling a run-off for mountain water.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We both were having fun, but I think John was having the most fun.<\/p>\n

We often rate trails that we are on as to whether the \u201cblue jeep\u201d we used to own could have navigated the terrain. This trail we could not have done without our Rubi.<\/p>\n

So, why do we need parental supervision? We didn\u2019t tell anyone where we were going, didn\u2019t leave a note, only had two bottles of water and no food. Luckily we had cell service the whole time.<\/p>\n
