Basically it is here because there is a dam that created a lake that people can fish in and boat on. Brantley Wildlife area is part of the park as well. The park is very well maintained and quiet. BUT don\u2019t eat the fish, they are contaminated with DDT\u2026hmm.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_0880.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_0880_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C436&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"436\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here at the park they hold a \u201cGo Fly a Kite\u201d event in spring, though I think they could hold it at any time as the wind hasn\u2019t stopped blowing the whole time we have been here.<\/p>\n<p>This hasn\u2019t been our favorite area so far, as there isn\u2019t much to do close to the camp. Carol and Tim, friends we made in Roswell, warned us that there isn\u2019t much to see down here and they are right. I wanted to see Carlsbad Caverns and John thought what the heck we would spend some time checking the area out.<\/p>\n<p>We explored the BLM lands surrounding the State Park and drove up into a mountainous area close to the Lincoln National Forest.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_0873.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_0873_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C414&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"414\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_0871.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_0871_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C436&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"436\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Since we were this close we decided to drive the 60 some miles into Lincoln National Forest to see Sitting Bull Falls. However it was not open the day we were there, but the view was nice.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_0869.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/IMG_0869_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C388&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"388\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is doubtful we will come back to this area, but still, I\u2019m glad we came.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There isn\u2019t much to say about this state park.
