I checked the weather and the light rain that is falling is supposed to clear out by noon. So it is off to Bandera again.<\/p>\n<p>The Bandera Cattle Company (<a title=\"http:\/\/www.banderacattlecompany.com\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.banderacattlecompany.com\/\">http:\/\/www.banderacattlecompany.com\/<\/a>) offered us a history lesson on the cattle drive and what life was like \u201cback in the day\u201d. Originally this honky-tonk was named Bandera Saloon but everyone in town thought it looked like a chicken coop. When the business was sold, the new owners changed its name.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_0735.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px 5px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_0735_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C388&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"388\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After we ordered I started looking around the place and noticed that the ceiling was covered with burlap and galvanized steel. John said \u201cYep, looks like a chicken coop from the inside too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bob and Linda with their back-up band entertain the patrons every Saturday afternoon. It was fun watching the locals stream in and the fun bantering that went on between the crowd and the performers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_0736.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px 5px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_0736_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C388&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"388\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Our next stop was Arkey Blue\u2019s Silver Dollar formerly know as the Fox Hole. It is the oldest continuously operating honky-tonk in Texas, established in 1901. It is under the General Store. The red door in the picture below is the entrance and \u201cstore front\u201d of the Silver Dollar.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_0739.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px 5px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_0739_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C388&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"388\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We descended a very dark stairway into the bar and we were greeted by the sounds of Arkey Blue and the Blue Cowboys. We found a seat and enjoyed the atmosphere and music; Arkey and his band were pretty darn good.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_0737.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px 5px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.2dogsbarkin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_0737_thumb.jpg?resize=580%2C388&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"388\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The most\u2026.interesting? fixture in this establishment, though I did not get to see it, was in the men\u2019s bathroom. As John was going in, two men were coming out and commented that he was a brave man. He couldn\u2019t imagine what they meant.<\/p>\n<p>It didn\u2019t take him long to figure it out. Rather than normal urinals they had a trough and he said it was disgusting.
