Now that the entire kitchen, walls included, have been removed, it is time to start putting it back together.The old stove had one of those old “fan-in-the-wall” type venting systems. We thought it would be nice to fix up the motor and keep the fan, but decided that an over-the-range microwave was more practical. So John covered up the hole and added studding\u00a0to make it easier to hang the microwave and cabinet.<\/p>\n

We have left over stone from other work that was done\u00a0on the outside of the house so hopefully John can patch the large hole on the outside of the house where the original vent was installed.<\/p>\n

Here you\u00a0can see the rest of the studding\u00a0that was done. John was very happy that he was able to use up all\u00a0of the extra wood and boards he had in the garage to finish the kitchen. That is less we have to get rid of when the time comes to\u00a0clear out all\u00a0of the items we are\u00a0not taking in the RV.<\/p>\n

The next order of business was to get the wiring in and the insulation up. It is going to be\u00a0so nice to have all those outlets on the counter. The old kitchen had two outlets, TOTAL. It was tough, between coffee pots and toasters to find places to plug in\u00a0crockpots and mixers.<\/p>\n

The insulation that John put up is reflective so hopefully in the summer when the sun is beating on the stone it will not get so unbearably hot in the kitchen. We have already noticed how warm it feels, which just proves how much of our heat was bleeding out through the walls.<\/p>\n
