For the 3rd year in a row, we threw our Cabin Fever Party. This winter season\u00a0has been\u00a0particularly cold with almost everyday below normal, often WAY below normal. So in an\u00a0attempt to break \u201cthose winter blues\u201d we gathered friends and family together for some much-needed fun.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Click here<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>to see the all the photos of the day.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Unfortunately it\u00a0wasn’t as warm as it has been in past years so most people stayed indoors. The men hung out in the garage or “man cave” as the women affectionately named it, and cooked the food. John has a wood stove in there and it kept the garage quite comfortable.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Us girls hung out in the house with all the snacks and kids and prepared the cooked food as the men brought it to us. This year crab legs were again on the menu as was Buck\u2019s Jambalaya, and Andy\u2019s Slow Country boil.\u00a0Instead of a deep-fried\u00a0turkey,\u00a0John smoked a couple of pork shoulders and\u00a0grilled up\u00a0a few clams. There were lots of side dishes, snacks and\u00a0deserts. No one went away hungry.\u00a0<\/p>\n

We had some new comers to the party this year. My son Brad and his wife Julia, their friends Justin and Whitney, Tim and Colleen, John’s daughter Tiff and her fiance\u00a0Josh, my\u00a0parent’s friends Steve and\u00a0Elaine,\u00a0Candy’s mom and stepdad Sandy and Bill and of course little Miss Riesa.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It did warm up\u00a0enough in the afternoon that the older kids went out and played in the snow. We had a fire going in the chiminea and they had fun getting cold and then sitting by the fire to get warm.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dad (Jerry)and Steve\u00a0brought plenty of\u00a0their home-brewed\u00a0beer. We spent the last half of the afternoon into the early evening\u00a0sitting around taste testing their creations. Some were absolutely wonderful.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After a few people left and there was more room in the house I brought the dogs inside. The kids enjoyed watching Cooper perform some of his tricks, and they especially liked using the laser light to\u00a0play with him.\u00a0<\/p>\n

All in all, a very nice day. I would like to do some sort of\u00a0theme party next year, I just don’t know what kind of theme. Guess we will have to wait and see what I can come up with.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
