Anyone who owns a vehicle knows the engines need regular maintenance, and diesel engines on RV\u2019s are pretty finicky. We\u2019ve parked in the driveway of our friends, Andy and Candy, while John helps Andy do some repairs on his RV. The last time they had it out the engine was overheating a lot.<\/p>\n

After some investigation it has been determined that the radiator and the charge air cooler (CAC) are clogged with oil and dirt. Both are beyond just cleaning them as the solution. Both parts are going to have to be replaced.<\/p>\n

In order to even get the radiator and the CAC out, John and Andy have to tear most of the backend off of the RV.<\/p>\n

With the backend removed they now have access to the radiator and the CAC.<\/p>\n

Some of the parts that have to be removed can only be accessed from above. That means tearing up part of the floor in the bedroom needed to be accessed through the bedroom floor.<\/p>\n

As Andy removes them John brings them out.<\/p>\n

The guys are claiming that this is quite the project. I thought it wasn\u2019t a project until there was blood. They point out to me that, yes, there is blood. Okay fine. This is now, officially, a project.<\/p>\n

By the end of the day, they have all the parts out and are ready to go get the new parts.<\/p>\n

Help, I\u2019ve fallen and I can\u2019t get up.<\/p>\n

A few days later, with new parts in hand, they put everything back together.<\/p>\n

Andy and John give everything a last visual check before closing it up. I\u2019m just wondering what all the left over bolts are for.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 7\/1\/2023: In the fall of 2022 Andy and Candy traveled across country and met us in Yuma, AZ, and traveled with us around the country for the next six months. The engine repair they did in 2021 did the trick. The engine never overheated. The guys are patting themselves on the back for a job well done.
