Mama’s condition is deteriorating rapidly now. Between the mind altering effects of bladder infections on the elderly, the ever increasing pain-management drugs, and the overall spread of the MRSA infection not only is she physically struggling but mentally as well. I told John, it’s time for him to come home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of mom’s favorite activities is going out for breakfast. I’m trying to keep things upbeat but it even Verne and his Alzheimer’s brain knows it isn’t okay. This week’s outing to Cracker Barrel is going to be her last outing, even though she doesn’t know it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is starting to sleep more and more, and her confusion is increasing. I have told the family, based on my previous end-off life experience, that it is time for those who want to say their goodbyes to her, to do so in the next week or so. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Back when she was feeling good, I asked her who she would like to see before the end, and I made a list. Deann and Julie took charge of the list and made sure everyone on it was contacted. We’ve had a steady stream of extended family, Verne’s friends, her friends, and their friends visiting. It has been amazing the outpouring of love we have received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of her last really good days happened to be a BEAUTIFUL spring-like day. John helped me get her bundled up and outside where she and Verne basked in day with the warm sun on their faces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I took some pictures of some early-blooming flowers she had planted out back for her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Mom is sleeping almost 24 hours a day, now. Easter is a week or so away. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The house is so quiet, like it is holding its breath along with us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

To help pass the time, Julie and I decide that we should color Easter Eggs. We don’t have any paints, but we do have markers the a friend, Natalie gave us that have paint brushes on one end. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, colored marker is not good for egg coloring as far as being able to eat the eggs. The marker color seeped right through the shell and colored the egg. But, we have a nice centerpiece for the table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
