With Mom (Peg, John\u2019s mom) feeling better and up and about, Bill, Jul, John, and I decide to take the jeeps out to play at the Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We are staged up and ready to go. Maps, water, snacks, tools, first aid kit, yep, we\u2019ve got it all. Let\u2019s go.<\/p>\n

We had a little trouble deciding where our trail head was supposed to be but eventually we got on the right track. The first part of the trail is like driving over cobblestone. You feel like your teeth are going to vibrate right out of your mouth.<\/p>\n

We make our first stop at the top of a hill giving us time for a photo-op of our babies and a chance for our eyeballs to stop jittering.<\/p>\n

The hill out of here offers our first \u201cmoney shot\u201d as I call them.<\/p>\n

In the south and mid west off-road trails have big boulders and lots of dust. In the Northeast, trails have mud and water.<\/p>\n

I hope our all-terrain tires do okay with all this mud. It has been a long time since we have driven off-road in muddy conditions.<\/p>\n

That big puddle and mud negotiation went well. Hmm. This next water hazard appears to be more like a wanna-be lake than a puddle. We are hoping it isn\u2019t too deep.<\/p>\n

There is something beautiful about every area of our country. Here in the Northeast, the tree-lined roads through our forest give you a peaceful feeling as you are driving. In the south and Midwest with the steep, cliff-like drop offs, it is more a feeling of\u2026terror. Candy knows what I\u2019m talking about.<\/p>\n

Of course there is the negative feeling of claustrophobia when the trees and vegetation close in around you.<\/p>\n

I like the orange exit signs. If you get lost on the trails, just follow any orange sign and it will bring you out of the off-road area and back to civilization.<\/p>\n
