The Christmas decorations haven’t been down a day and John has started working on the house again. My rule is no renovations during the holidays so as soon as they are over, he can’t wait to get to work.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Before the kitchen renovations can be\u00a0finished, let alone started, the doorway that opens to the basement and the area next to it where the fridge currently resides, must be fixed so that the old construction matches up with the new construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We don’t have any before pictures of the basement stairway, but it was covered in a dark almost black paneling that he tore out today, as well. Basements are yucky enough, you don’t have to make them more spooky by putting dark colors on the walls.\u00a0 Yeesh! He also tore off the nasty carpeting that was on the steps.<\/p>\n

When we tore out the wall between the living room and kitchen along with some bulkheads, we had to take out some of the ceiling in the kitchen. This has to be repaired as well before we can start doing more on the kitchen.\u00a0<\/p>\n

These pictures aren’t exactly awe-inspiring, but I wanted to share my pain with you. Remodeling is messy, tiring, frustrating, a lot of hard work and it seems our budget always gets blown out of the water.<\/p>\n

We’ve been doing this since the day we bought the house back in 2004. Granted, we bought the house cheap, realizing it was a fixer-upper, but now that we want to get started on our RV dream, it feels more like a burden.<\/p>\n
