We\u2019ve finished the Fallen Peace Officer Trail and it\u2019s time to head back to town. We have some time and everyone is okay with doing one more trail. The Long Canyon Trail is fairly easy but I think it is just fun.<\/p>\n

Well, the first three miles are not so fun. First it is a washboard gravel road.<\/p>\n

And then it switches to a washboard dirt road.<\/p>\n

And then\u2026can we just take a moment here. Wow!<\/p>\n

Apparently there are baby lambs here somewhere. Hmm.<\/p>\n

Eventually, we come to the fun part. To me it feels like a waterslide for Jeeps. Here we go, dropping down.<\/p>\n

And into the \u201cchute.\u201d<\/p>\n

The most exhilarating part of any off-road trail, in my opinion, is the not knowing exactly what is on the other side of a rise. Wondering where the road might go and what kind of trouble you are about to get into.<\/p>\n

Having made it through the \u201cwater slide\u201d part the rest of the trail will be fairly easy. Here is a big rock that fell and created a little tunnel.<\/p>\n

We came across a woman and a car. Yes, a car. She had made it down the worst part but hadn\u2019t tried the next section. We told her she would be fine from this point forward. She said she was a bit nervous and that the Internet site she checked assured her that a car could do this trail. Perhaps the website needs updated.<\/p>\n

For now though, the rest of the ride for us is all about the scenery.<\/p>\n

The road twists and turns its way down the canyon.<\/p>\n

We stopped at an overlook where John and I have seen big horn sheep before. There aren\u2019t any around but the climbers in the area may be keeping them away.<\/p>\n

Oh, wow. That\u2019s the way we need to go to get back to Moab.<\/p>\n

This part of the trail is pretty smooth but there is a lot of twists and turns and plenty of switchbacks.<\/p>\n

Pouty. We are almost at the end of the trail and the end of our off-road fun in Moab. Tomorrow is all about laundry, Candy and I getting our nails done, and prepping to move because Thursday, we are leaving Moab and going our separate ways.<\/p>\n
