We have left our \u201cwinter home\u201d of Yuma and are beginning our long trip to the East Coast for both us and the Blooms. Our furnace is still giving us some problems, so we are stopping in Quartzsite, to meet a technician who is bringing us some parts. We\u00a0 are staying in 88 Shades for a few days before moving out into the BLM camping at Gold Nugget Rd.<\/p>\r\n
Gold Nugget Road just happens to be the trailhead for one of our favorite off-road trails in the Quartzsite area, Dripping Springs.<\/p>\r\n
<\/a><\/p>\r\nIt is a good variety trail with easy sections, moderately technical, and an alternate exit route that is a little challenging.<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nThe last time we were in Quartzsite with the Blooms they had a large, dully truck, and much of our off-road adventures were done before they arrived in Quartzsite. This year they have a motorhome towing a Jeep. Yeah, we are going to go play!!<\/p>\r\n<\/p>\r\nComing from an area on the East Coast where there aren\u2019t many off road trails, it is hard to know exactly what you and your Jeep can do when tested.<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nParts of the trail are pretty bumpy, so we like to take breaks from the jarring around from time to time. Luckily there are places with great views, providing photo opportunity .<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nAndy and his Jeep don\u2019t seem to be having any trouble with the few technical spots we are traversing.<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nMy favorite section of the trail is the dry wash. It takes you through twists and turns, narrow passages, and rocky sections.<\/p>\r\n<\/p>\r\nYou can reach out and touch the sides of the wash in spots where it is a bit of a squeeze.<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nSince I\u2019m driving, it’s John\u2019s turn to jump out and take pictures.<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nSee how fun!<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nWe finally make it to Dripping Springs and walk back the trail to see the\u2026puddle. Hmm. Last time we were here it was at least dripping. That’s okay, the tree makes a nice background.<\/p>\r\n<\/p>\r\nThere are a number of petroglyphs in the area too, though some people have taking to drawing their own. Bad People.<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nThe alternate exit route is a bit more technical and this is the first time we are trying it. The last time we were in Quartzsite with the Blooms they had a large, dully truck, and much of our off-road adventures were done before they arrived in Quartzsite. This year they have a motorhome towing a Jeep. Yeah, we are going to go play!!<\/p>\r\n
<\/p>\r\n
Coming from an area on the East Coast where there aren\u2019t many off road trails, it is hard to know exactly what you and your Jeep can do when tested.<\/p>\r\n
<\/a><\/p>\r\nParts of the trail are pretty bumpy, so we like to take breaks from the jarring around from time to time. Luckily there are places with great views, providing photo opportunity .<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nAndy and his Jeep don\u2019t seem to be having any trouble with the few technical spots we are traversing.<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nMy favorite section of the trail is the dry wash. It takes you through twists and turns, narrow passages, and rocky sections.<\/p>\r\n<\/p>\r\nYou can reach out and touch the sides of the wash in spots where it is a bit of a squeeze.<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nSince I\u2019m driving, it’s John\u2019s turn to jump out and take pictures.<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nSee how fun!<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nWe finally make it to Dripping Springs and walk back the trail to see the\u2026puddle. Hmm. Last time we were here it was at least dripping. That’s okay, the tree makes a nice background.<\/p>\r\n<\/p>\r\nThere are a number of petroglyphs in the area too, though some people have taking to drawing their own. Bad People.<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nThe alternate exit route is a bit more technical and this is the first time we are trying it. <\/a><\/p>\r\nMy favorite section of the trail is the dry wash. It takes you through twists and turns, narrow passages, and rocky sections.<\/p>\r\n<\/p>\r\nYou can reach out and touch the sides of the wash in spots where it is a bit of a squeeze.<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nSince I\u2019m driving, it’s John\u2019s turn to jump out and take pictures.<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nSee how fun!<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nWe finally make it to Dripping Springs and walk back the trail to see the\u2026puddle. Hmm. Last time we were here it was at least dripping. That’s okay, the tree makes a nice background.<\/p>\r\n<\/p>\r\nThere are a number of petroglyphs in the area too, though some people have taking to drawing their own. Bad People.<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nThe alternate exit route is a bit more technical and this is the first time we are trying it. That’s okay, the tree makes a nice background.<\/p>\r\n<\/p>\r\nThere are a number of petroglyphs in the area too, though some people have taking to drawing their own. Bad People.<\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\n<\/a><\/p>\r\nThe alternate exit route is a bit more technical and this is the first time we are trying it.
