After five days of mothering I\u2019m feeling much better so its time to get mom out for some site seeing and exploring. Since we are so close to a new section of the border wall here in Yuma I want to go see it. Andy thought we could get to it by going through the military base. So we obtained our permits and off we went, off-roading through the desert.<\/p>\n

During the process of obtaining our permits we had to watch safety videos explaining about unexploded ordinances and the like. There are BIG signs with numbers on them and we are wondering if these are target area markers.<\/p>\n

As it turns out, we can\u2019t get to the border wall from here because there is a section that is closed to the public and it boarders the section of the new wall we are trying to get to.<\/p>\n

So we turn around, head back towards town, and try to find a different way to the wall. Well, that was an adventure in itself but we eventually made it. However, it turns out that we aren\u2019t supposed to be here. The rule out west, in general, is if you aren\u2019t supposed to be somewhere there will be a sign, gate, or fence. There are none of these things until we get right up to the border wall.<\/p>\n

We aren\u2019t media. We decide the sign is referring to the construction equipment by the fenced in area.<\/p>\n

Besides, there have been several cars and trucks that have gone by and no one has told us we can\u2019t be here.<\/p>\n

Picture time! We all got our chance to touch the wall. (mom and me)<\/p>\n

And we marveled at the sheer scope of the project. Go Trump!<\/p>\n

Eventually, a more official person pulls up. He doesn\u2019t say anything to us either! Andy asks him if we can drive along the wall and he says we aren\u2019t supposed to be here. Ooops. He takes our names and pictures of our vehicles and sends us on our way. I bet there is a sign or barrier on the road we took to the wall now.<\/p>\n

All this running around has made us hungry. Mom has never eaten at a Chick-fil-a, so that is where we stop for supper. Yum.<\/p>\n

Alas, the week is over and I am feeling strong enough to care for myself. Mom is flying home and I am beginning the long wait for John to return from Taiwan, hopefully without the corona virus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
